The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) called on Filipinos to register for the May 2022 national and local elections.
Maria Isabel Buenaobra, executive director of PPCRV, specifically urged those who will turn 18 years old on or before the elections to register.
Registration for new voters is ongoing until September this year.
Buenaobra made the same call to overseas Filipino workers who were not able to register for absentee voting in the past.
Voter registration for the May 2022 polls resumed last September except in areas under the Enhanced Community Quarantine or Modified ECQ.
Qualified to register are those who will be at least 18 years of age on or before Election Day, or on May 9, 2022; a resident of the Philippines for at least one year; and resides in the place where he or she intends to vote for at least six months on or before Election Day.
All Commission on Elections offices are open from Mondays to Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., to accept applicants for voter registration.
The voter registration period will run until September 30, 2021.
