Starting February 6, the theme song for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the country will be played as the recessional song in all Masses in the Archdiocese of Manila.
“We encourage our choirs to start learning the song and to highlight it on February 7, Sunday, as we open the celebrations in our parishes,” said Father Kali Llamado of the music ministry in the archdiocese.
Father Llamado asked Church leaders to coordinate with their parish youth ministry, catechetical ministry, and school campus ministry so that they can guide people in proper actions for the song.
Composed by Father Carlo Magno Marcelo, a priest from the Archdiocese of Manila, the official lyric and action of the song may be viewed on YouTube.
Father Marcelo said he composed the song in 2015 for the National Mission Congress in the Philippines.
“The song ‘We Give Our Yes’ speaks of the coming 500th year of Christianity here in the Philippines,” he said.
“Instead of being nostalgic, the song invites us to look forward and that is to claim our mission. What is that mission? To fulfil the mission of Jesus,” said the priest.
The official mission song is performed by singer Jamie Rivera, the voice behind some Church songs in the country.
