Filipino migrant workers will mark the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines on April 16.
Capuchin Father Troy de los Santos, vicar general of the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia, stressed the importance of the celebration for migrant workers.
“As migrant workers, we have the responsibility to share to the world the gift of faith that we received,” said the priest in an interview over Radio Veritas 846.
“We give our yes to mission,” said Father De Los Santos.
He said the Filipino faithful in the United Arab Emirates are one in thanking God for the gift of Christianity in the country.
Father Rommel Pangilinan, social media director and coordinator of the celebrations in Abu Dhabi, said they will launched various activities on the third Sunday of Easter.
He said the pandemic will not stop them from celebrating and thanking God for the gift of faith.
A total of four parishes in Abu Dhabi — the St. Joseph’s Cathedral, St. Paul’s Church Musaffah, St. John the Baptist Church Ruwais, and St. Mary’s Church Al Ain — will join the celebrations.
