Three Catholic bishops in the central Philippine archdiocese of Cebu have been fully vaccinated against CCOVID-19 after receiving their second jabs on Friday, May 14.
Archbishop Jose Palma, Auxiliary Bishop Midyphil Billones, and Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Antonio Rañola received their last doses through the “Project Balik Buhay.”
Along with them were elderly priests who received their vaccines.
Bishops Palma and Rañola both contracted COVID-19 last February and recovered.
In the Diocese of Balanga, Bishop Ruperto Santos also received the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine on May 10.
“I am grateful to be part of the solution,” said Bishop Santos as he urged the public to do the same.
“Support and spread vaccine awareness. Get vaccinated. It is safe. It is our service,” he said.
The bishop also thanked medical frontliners who are leading the fight against the pandemic.
“Our hearts are full of gratitude for our healthcare heroes who responsibly commit themselves to fight against COVID-19, and help us,” Bishop Santos added.
“Your resiliency, compassion and strength in keeping our communities safe and sound will be forever etched in our hearts,” he added.
