On Thursday, the President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte reiterated his claim that Leni Robredo’s hometown of Naga City is a hotbed of illegal drugs.
“I stand by my word that Naga is the hotbed of shabu,” Duterte said in his speech.
The President also said that it was Robredo’s brother-in-law who brought in drugs to Naga City.
“Yung brother-in-law niya ang nagdala ng drugs doon sa Bicol. Totoo ‘yan,” Duterte added.
Last week, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde said Naga City has the 5th highest crime volume among cities in the Philippines.
PNP spokesperson Senior Supt. Benigno Durana, however, clarified that Albyalde mistook the listing of cities by region as one arranged according to crime volume.
It was Durana who gave Albayalde the document that the PNP chief read out and has owned to the error of tagging Naga City as the fifth top crime-prone city in the country.
Leni Robredo earlier claimed that politics is the reason behind the PNP’s branding of Naga City as a hotbed of shabu.
She also said that the false claims are insulting to the people and its officials who have worked hard to improve the city.
But President Duterte point out that the truth says every hidden in Naga City the hometown of Leni Robredo.
